PreCalculus Junior Trip Assignment

Get into the college spirit - this assignment comes from UC Irvine and Clark University

Instruction at most universities is still centered on a lecture driven classroom.  However, mathematics midterms and final exams are known for their focus on proofs, conjectures and conceptual understanding.  Your challenge as mathematics scholars will be to carry the mathematical investigation outside of the lecture hall and come to the larger conclusions as to WHY ideas are true.

This assignment is due Tuesday March 3rd. A scholar would have this assignment nearly completed on Monday March 2nd.

Your goal is to complete the Clark University Handout and the additional exercises.  Your assignment is to create a mini-portfolio which will include Cornell-Notes on each of the UC Irvine Videos, completed questions from the Clark University handout and the additional exercises. Finally include a summary of your work by answering the conceptual question (found below.)  Ideally this assignment should span two - three days.  Watch the videos on day one then work through the Clark University handout and additional exercises on the following days.

Day one – Take detailed notes on all videos.
Day two – Work through the handouts
Day three - Finish any remain exercises and complete the conceptual knowledge summary.
March 2nd – Come prepared to ask questions with a nearly completed assignment
March 3rd – Turn in the mini-portfolio assignment.

Conceptual Knowledge Question:
What is the connection between a radius measure and the concept of an angle?
